| Abstract: | PCIERD is one of the five sectoral councils of DOST, the premier science and technology (S&T) agency in the Philippines. It takes charge of eight (8) important sectors that have been considered as having impact to the country's industrialization, namely: process, food and feed, metals and engineering, mining and minerals, textile, energy, transportation and construction. PCIERD adheres to the Science and Technology Agenda for National Development (STAND 2000) which lists more specific areas for development. As a government agency, PCIERD serves as the central agency in the planning, monitoring and promotion of scientific and technological research for applications in these sectors. In its fifteen years of existence, PCIERD has put in place regular activities to promote its research and development (R&D) activities, i.e. from the start of a project up to its completion. Generally, the Industry Relations and Information Division (IRID) of PCIERD takes charge of these activities. The regular activities include: quarterly technical fora, annual DOST Technology Fair and other national and regional S&T exhibitions, and technology investment clinic. |
